Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E) is a form of psychotherapy designed to treat eating disorders by addressing both the cognitive and behavioural aspects of the condition. It aims to help individuals develop healthier attitudes towards food, body image, and weight by challenging distorted thoughts and beliefs related to eating and appearance. Additionally, CBT-E focuses on modifying maladaptive eating behaviours, building coping skills, and developing strategies to manage emotions in a more constructive way, ultimately promoting long-term recovery from eating disorders.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on promoting psychological flexibility and acceptance of difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences rather than trying to eliminate or control them. It encourages individuals to identify their core values and commit to taking actions aligned with those values, even in the presence of challenging emotions or situations. ACT combines mindfulness techniques, acceptance strategies, and behaviour change methods to help individuals build a more meaningful and fulfilling life while fostering resilience and well-being.
Schema Therapy is an integrative therapeutic approach that draws from cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic, and experiential techniques. It focuses on identifying and treating early maladaptive schemas, which are negative and enduring patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that develop in childhood and shape an individual's core beliefs about themselves and others. The therapy seeks to help clients recognise and challenge these schemas, promoting emotional healing, and fostering healthier ways of relating and functioning in their daily lives.
Most clients typically meet with me on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
Sessions are $230 and you are eligible for a rebate of $136.50 with a valid Mental Health Care Plan or Eating Disorder Plan. I am able to process those rebates for you on the day of your appointment.
Mental Health Treatment Plans are often required for individuals accessing Medicare rebates for mental health services. A patient is referred by their regular General Practitioner for initially six and up to ten medicare-rebateable sessions per calendar year.
If you have Private Health Insurance, I can provide you with an invoice to claim back some of the cost of your sessions with your health fund. You will need to check with your private health insurer to determine how much of your sessions will be covered.
